Recently Year 1 took part in a Multi-Skills Festival at Greenland Primary School. It was a fantastic event ran by some of the older pupils from the school. They had planned lots of different fun activities for the children to take part in including: football, bowling, running, throwing and catching designed to help our children to develop their core motor skills. Class 3 and 4 loved taking part in all the activities. The bowling activity was definitely one of their favourites! All the children were very well behaved throughout and greatly enjoyed the experience.

We recently took two teams of Year 6 children to the Derwentside Cricket Festival held at Shotley Bridge Cricket Club. The festival was intended to be an early introduction to Cricket and allowed the girls to show off their skills against other local primary schools. The girls were fantastic representatives for our school and both teams performed very well, winning multiple games and demonstrating some excellent cricketing skill. Blackburn Rovers FC Match Day Visit
We recently took a lucky group of our junior children and parents to Ewood Park, the home of Blackburn Rovers FC for an action packed football experience.
The fun began as soon as they arrived at ‘The Brick’, one of Blackburn Rover’s coaching centres, with an action packed training session involving a range of exciting games and activities. The children had great fun during the session but before they left, there was just enough time for a special visit from the Blackburn Rover’s mascot, Rover the bulldog. After group photos with Rover and a quick medal presentation, it was nearly time for the game.
The children grabbed a quick lunch inside ‘The Brick’ before heading over to the stadium ready to watch Blackburn Rovers FC take on Stoke City FC.
At the start of the game the children were lucky enough to be invited onto the pitch to help lead the players out by forming a guard of honour and waving large blue and white flags as the players came out of the tunnel.
At half time the children were invited back onto the pitch to take penalties against each other in front of the crowd and experience what it is like to kick a ball on a professional football pitch.
The children were exceptionally well behaved throughout the day and were excellent representatives for our school. After the game, their was just enough time to take some team photos in front of the dug outs and try to meet some of the players in person.
Thank you to all the adults who came along on the day and helped to make the whole day such an exciting experience for the children. Also, a huge thank you to Mr. Myers from Stanhope Barrington CE Primary School for making our visit possible.
Year 1 House Cup Obstacle Course Event
Year 1 recently participated in an obstacle course challenge. All the children were very excited to compete in their house teams to try and earn some house points for their team. Every single child successfully completed the obstacle course which included skipping, jumping, running and lifting hoops over their head and had great fun taking part in all the different activities. All the children showed great sportsmanship throughout by cheering on each other, not just their own team. A big well done to Griffin House who came out as overall winners on the day but also to the whole of Year 1 for a fantastic attitude throughout!
Delves Lane Dance Festival 2018-19
This week all our children, from Nursery to Year 6, came together to take part in our annual Delves Lane Dance Festival during which they had the opportunity to perform dances they have been learning in class as part of their PE curriculum.
This year the children were set an additional challenge of creating a dance linked to the topics they have been learning about in the classroom. Yet again the children excelled and put on a fantastic show with dances inspired by themes from Space to The Victorians!
It was fantastic to watch everyone taking part and greatly enjoying the opportunity to both perform and watch each other’s performances. A huge well done to all the children who made the event such a success and displayed such fantastic dancing talent.
