New Afterschool Activity Clubs
It was fantastic to see so many of our children enjoying the afterschool clubs on offer at our school last year and we are delighted to announce that we will again be offering a wide range of exciting afterschool clubs to keep our pupils entertained and develop them as young individuals!
What’s on Offer and How to Sign Up:
On the reverse of this letter is a timetable of all the clubs on offer this year including a brief overview of what the club is about and important details you will need to know i.e. start dates etc. Please read this information carefully to see which clubs are available to your child.
For your child to attend any of these clubs, you must fill out a ‘Club Registration Form’ which is attached to this letter and return it to the school office. These are also available to download from the school website or can be picked up from the school office if you require multiple forms. Alternatively, you can follow the link from the afterschool club text message you should soon receive and complete the online Club Registration Form which will be sent directly to the school office.
As always, we expect high demand for club places which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If and when your child is allocated a place in any club, you will receive a confirmation text with a start date for your child.
Club Start and End Dates:
All clubs will begin the week commencing Monday 16th September.
In the interest of providing consistency for both children and parents, clubs will run all year except from the final week of a school term i.e. the week before Christmas, Easter and Summer.
We endeavour to keep clubs running at all times, however, on the rare occasion that a club has to be cancelled for whatever reason, a text will be sent out to parents in advance.
Please note that all children must be collected from clubs promptly at 4:00. If this is persistently not the case, your child may be placed into afterschool child care which would incur an additional charge.
Junior Children – Consent to Walk Home:
Many junior children have consent to walk home after school at 3:10. However, when registered to an afterschool club, children will not be permitted to leave the school site unless collected by an appropriate adult unless staff are previously informed by a parent or carer they have permission to do so. This is an important safeguarding measure to ensure the safety of all our children.
All our afterschool clubs cost £1 and all proceeds are used to further develop our afterschool club provision.
Payments can be made using the online ‘Parent Pay’ system which allows you to pay online weekly or in advance as a lump sum. You can also pay directly with cash via the school office. If you have any queries regarding how to use ‘Parent Pay’, please speak to the school office for further details.
What to Do If Your Child is Unable to Attend their Afterschool Club:
We understand that sometimes your child may not be able to attend their club that week. On these occasions, we ask that you inform the school office of this in advance so that club registers can be updated accordingly. Failure to pass on this information could result in your child being removed from a club altogether or prevented from walking home at 3:10.
If your child wishes to permanently leave a club at any point, please inform the school office of this so that their place can be offered to another child. We regularly have waiting lists for afterschool clubs and do not wish for any children to unnecessarily miss out on attending their desired club.
We are very excited for afterschool clubs again on the 16th of September and look forward to seeing many excited faces taking part this year!

Over 1000 children were hospitalised
with flu last season, just under half required admission to intensive care
Dear Parent/Guardian of children from reception up to and including year 6.
Please visit the link or scan the QR code below to consent for your child (one for each child) to receive their flu vaccine in the autumn term 2019. This consent must be completed by 27th September to ensure we can vaccinate your child when we are in school. Please note the consent form has been improved and simplified.
You will be asked to enter a secure school code:
School Name: Delves Lane Code: 114047
This vaccination programme is in place to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be a very serious illness and sometimes causes major health complications particularly in children and the elderly. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable friends and family by preventing the spread of flu. Please ensure you read and understand all the information at the above link before you complete the consent form.
The vaccination is free and recommended for young children and is given via a quick and simple spray up the nose.
If you have any questions or do not have internet access to complete the form please do not hesitate to contact us on: 03000 032554

SUMMER FAYRE – Thursday 4th JULY at 2:00PM
On Thursday we will be hosting our annual Summer fayre and we are hoping that the sun will shine!! The fayre will open at 2 o’clock and there will be lots of fantastic stalls in the junior and infant halls and also events outside in the school grounds (weather permitting).
This year the children are busy preparing lots of different foods from America.
Children from Nursery to Class 11 have been busy preparing some American themed food, from homemade waffles to Lemonade and pizza! All items will be 50p.
Alongside this, the children have been researching an American state. They are busy producing work to decorate the stalls and our junior hall.
The food will be available for you to buy from the ‘’American Themed food stall’ in the junior hall.
In the infant hall or outside (weather permitting) we will have various tombola’s, a cosmetic stall, bottle stick pick stall, spare uniform (all items 50p), used book stall (all books 50p), 20p per item stall, Scholastic book stall and our grand raffle. Outside we will have a visit from King’s Cafe ice-cream man and the Stadium of Light are bringing some inflatables.
The following arrangements are in place for Thursday afternoon:
Parents of children in Nursery to Y5 (Nursery and Classes 1 – 11)
Children can be collected from classes in the infants and juniors from 2pm. Parents will be asked to sign the class registration form. Children will not need to return to class at the end of the day but can go home with parents.
Parents of Y6 pupils (Classes 12 & 13)
Year 6 children will be helping on stalls in small groups. Parents must inform Mr Turnbull, Mrs Donnelly or Miss Jones (they will be in the junior hall) if they wish to take their child around the school fayre. If parents then wish to take their child home early then they must sign the class registration form at the end of the fayre.
Parents please note:
If another family member/adult is coming to collect your child for the fayre, then parents must notify the school office before 12:00pm so that class teachers can be informed.
Only the contacts on pupil records can collect children from classes unless the office is notified beforehand.
We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday. Thank you for your support!
