In November 2014, the Government issued a statement about how it wanted all schools to actively promote fundamental British values through the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development of their pupils.
At Delves Lane Primary we encourage our children to be creative, unique, open minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, as well as in our local community and the wider world. We cover such topics as:
Social responsibility
Freedom of Speech
Equality – Inclusion
Democracy
Family Values
Helping those in need – supporting charities
Respect
Law and Order – Choices
Tolerance – embracing differences
Heritage and Traditions
Monarchy
The breadth and balance of our curriculum and ethos promotes life in modern Britain. We work hard to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British society and the world.
